Customer Name: Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club

City, State, Zip Code: Bronx, NY 10453

Project Start: June 2008

Project Completion: November 2009

In 2008, GTL Construction was asked to place a bid on a $14 million project for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. The 30,000 SF space needed partial demolition, in addition to the reconstruction and conversion of a dilapidated former temple into a state of the art Boys & Girls Club.

Building the 30,000 SF club within the contract’s time and budget became one of the challenges. Walls had to be underpinned and floor levels had to be inserted into the existing 3-story open worship area. The roof had to be raised to accommodate a gym on the top floor and an elevator and stair tower had to be installed throughout the existing floors. Additionally, the building required some exterior renovation and a complete replacement of all windows. The project was successfully completed on time and to the owner’s satisfaction, so much so that GTL’s President, Angelo Monaco, was accepted and continues to serve as a Board Trustee for one of New York’s finest nonprofit organizations.
